5 Must have items whilst travelling

An insight into what's permanently in my carry on!

As a type A person I’m always prepared, something that can't be overlooked whilst travelling is packing. Everything I pack has a purpose and is always used, once you master packing, your trips become smoother and easier. Here are the 5 items I won't travel without:

1. Portable charger

Getting yourself a good portable charger for travelling is essential, a phone is no good without any power. Whilst travelling you're using your phone for directions and taking photos, ultimately draining your battery. I always have my portable charger with me, its better to be safe not sorry. I travel with 2 types of portable chargers:

iWalk small portable charger - https://amzn.eu/d/eqfT42x

These small compact chargers are great on the go, fast charging and take up little room. With no wire needed they are hands free and easy to use.

INIU powerbank, 10000mAH - https://amzn.eu/d/aiBWgig

This slim lightweight portable charger can charge multiple devices at once. This high speed charger is great for long travel days, lasting all day, this is a must have in my large carry on.

2. Mini first aid kit

There is always one person that is prone to accidents whilst travelling and that is always me. Whether it's a scuffed knee, blistered feet or a pounding headache, I always have a first aid kit on me. Containing plasters, blister plasters, wound wipes, ibuprofen, anti sickness/diarrhoea tablets, electrolytes, sanitary products and hair ties. This blend of a first aid kit and travel staples means I'm prepared for every situation. Amazon has a wide range of first aid kits, I personalised my own but here is a good base for your kit. https://amzn.eu/d/7To5Mtd

Note: make sure the scissors are under 10cm and abide by airport security rules.

3. Hand sanitizer

Although this could be included within the first aid kit, hand sanitiser is something I won't travel without. Even in my day to day handbag you won’t catch me without it. When abroad you are constantly using public transport, moving from place to place and touching your surroundings. You're probably trying new foods, possibly even street food and whilst on the go it's harder to find places to wash your hands. The worst thing to happen whilst travelling is getting sick. My hand sanitizer is always there to combat the germs and keep my hands clean.

4. Body spray/deodorant

There is nothing worse than not feeling fresh whilst travelling. Since my trip to Thailand I haven't travelled without body spray, during my Singapore layover I realised I had forgotten mine. After a 13 hour flight I was in need of freshening up. I scoured Singapore airport for body spray and inevitably had to buy a Victoria Secret spray with it being my only option. Now £20 pounds down but smelling great, I now always come equipped with body spray. Superdrug has multiple affordable options, make sure they are 100ml or under to abide by airport security.

5. My camera

You won’t catch me travelling without my camera, it is glued to me. Although not an emergency item, for me this is essential, I won't go anywhere without it. My camera is a Lumix DMc - G5 with a Panasonic 14-42 lens. Along with my camera I have multiple spare batteries and multiple SD cards to fill with photos from my travels. I am all for living in the moment but capturing beauty, culture and history whilst travelling is a must.
